Goudhurst Veterinary Surgery & Equine Clinic are delighted to announce that Goudhurst has achieved ISFM Bronze Cat Friendly Status. Our team have worked extremely hard to make sure this Cat Friendly Clinic logoclinic is cattastic!

The ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation is an internationally recognised award, our practice has to meet criteria to help minimise stress in your cat.

Our Cat Advocate, Natasha says:  Cats become very stressed as soon as they are taken out their own environment with their own scent so we want to minimise this stress as much as possible. Cats like to be up high to feel less vulnerable and have the ability to see what is going on around them better. We have provided blankets to cover the carriers as cats feel calmer when they are hidden.

Within the practice our staff are aware of how stressed cats can get and we do everything to keep them calm whilst handling them within the hospital.

We look forward to welcoming you and your feline friends into the practice.

Goudhurst Vets & Equine Clinic is an accredited “Cat Friendly Clinic” (CFC). This means that all our staff understand that cats have specific needs, so we approach, handle and care for them appropriately. We also have at least one “Cat Advocate” who can tell you all about Cat Friendly clinics and the International Society for Feline Medicine (ISFM) that awards the accreditation.

We all love our cats because of their unique nature but this same nature makes vet visits particularly demanding for them as well as you, their owners. CFCs exist to help make vet visits as stress-free as possible.

Accreditation is at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, largely dependent on the size and type of the practice.

Here at Goudhurst Vets & Equine Clinic, we are very proud to hold the Bronze award, which means we have designated “cat-only” appointment times and a good level of feline-friendly equipment.

As a cat owner, you’ll notice the difference when you visit us.

  • We love being a Cat Friendly Clinic but that doesn’t mean our other guests are second-class! In fact, we’ve found that all our Very Important Pet clients benefit from an environment where cats are more relaxed. Find out more about Cat Friendly Clinics.
